Leading the Way in Human-Animal Interaction
Our Story
Minal's deep connection with animals was more than just a passion—it was her first nature. After completing her Master's in Clinical Psychology, she pursued her interest in Canine Behavior, which led her to a groundbreaking project. When a school for children with intellectual disabilities sought her help in training a dog, Minal saw an opportunity to create something unprecedented in India: a therapy dog program. She trained Kutty, a pup from Bangalore, to become India's first internationally certified therapy dog.
Observing the profound impact Kutty had on the children, from improving motor skills to encouraging social interaction, Minal documented her work, creating the first research on Animal Assisted Therapy in India. Inspired by the success of this project, she founded Animal Angels Foundation to expand access to animal-assisted therapy across India, particularly for the underprivileged. Her vision was to make therapy accessible to those who might not even have access to basic mental health services, thus pioneering a new path in the field of mental health.
