Share your pet! – Call for volunteers in Delhi
This invitation goes out to all pet-owners who wish to volunteer with their pets and see their dogs contribute in Animal Assisted Activities (AAA) and Animal Assisted Therapy (AAT). You will be creating an opportunity for your pet to spread much joy among those who are ailing/disabled; those care givers who have little to no time for recreation, and those who have little opportunity to interact with people (and animals).
The first Orientation Programme is scheduled for Saturday the 6th of April between11 a.m. and 12.30 p.m. for pet owners without their pets. to understand the initiative.
This event is also open to enthusiasts(animal lovers, social change makers, psychologists interested in animal assisted therapy) who think the idea is stellar, love animals and would love to contribute to this initiative.
The programme is being conducted jointly by Caregivers Link and Animal Angels Foundation.
To tell you a little about the two organisations:
Caregivers Link (CGL) is a social venture established in 2010 and represented in Pune, Mumbai and Delhi. It has a vision to develop and build support through shared resources creating solutions and services for informal caregivers, their families and care receivers. Caregivers are those looking after a family member who is unable to look after themselves due to a health problems, or disability. The range of circumstances for which a person requires care is vast and the degree of care required also differs greatly and could be as diverse as caring for someone with an illness such as cancer or diabetes, for someone with a mental health disability, or an aged person in the home who may have a number of health problems. Animal Angels Foundation (AAF) was started in 2003 in Pune by Minal Lonkar – Kavishwar along with other likeminded people who believe in the healing power of pets. Her love for animals and her academic background in mental health gave her a unique outlook of treating patients with animals as the agents for change. AAF is a team of therapists, pet owners and pet enthusiasts who work with therapy animals to improve the quality of life of people. AAF has their teams in Pune, Mumbai and Bangalore.
