CORE (Center for Opportunities in Education and Rehabilitation) runs an integrated school called Ankur Vidya Mandir headed by Mrs. Madhuri Deshpande, at Ferguson College Campus, Pune. They focus on inclusive education where children with disabilities are given equal opportunity of education along with other children. Anugraha Rehabilitation Center was started as a day care center for special children. It is now a therapy and rehabilitation center for children with special needs.
Animal Angels conducted Animal Assisted Therapy sessions at the school for these children. Therapy dog Ella and Shadow Jr. (black Labradors) were visiting therapy dogs who visit the center along with Animal Angels Volunteer Mrs Pallavi Nanivdekar, Aditi and Tejashree. Shadow Junior was one of the pup of Therapy dog Ella. Shadow took over the therapy program where earlier his mother Ella used to work. The children instantly took on to this new vibrant pup was been instrumental in bringing about positive changes in them.
The teachers gave feedback that they have seen a big change in children with autism and physical disabilities and have become much more active and communicative since the Pawsitive Program started.
